August AnnouncementsREMINDER: Students must sign up by Wednesday of each week to receive a Certificate of Attendance to obtain a driver's license. Certificates will be given on Thursdays. The school board policy for absentees as they apply to exemptions has been changed. Absences used to determine exemption must be excused. If a student has any unexcused absentees in any class, he/she cannot be exempt from that class. Also, he/she has only two days after the absence to change an unexcused absence to an excused one. Parental notes can cover only five (5) days of absences each semester. Anyone interested in signing up for the Junior Civitan Club needs to see Mrs. Plunk by Friday, September 3. The $15 national dues must be paid by the end of September. The SADD Club will meet Wednesday, Sept. 1, at High School break. The $10 dues must be paid by the end of September. First home football game will be Friday, August 27th. There will have a pep rally in the Corral before dismissal. Anchor Club applications are due Friday, August 27th. They may also be turned in at the tailgate party before the football game. Students need to turn in their school day insurance by Tuesday, August 24th. The Mr. & Miss Itawamba Pageant will be Saturday, August 21, at 3:00 p.m. There will be categories for girls ages 0-21 years and boys ages 0-4 years. Entrants must be residents of Itawamba County. The pageant entry fee is $20.00. The Photogenic entry fee is $15.00. The deadline is Wednesday, August 18, at 5:00 p.m. No entries will be accepted the night of the pageant. No exceptions! A photo with name on back is also due by the 18th. Only one adult will be admitted free of charge with participating child. All others must pay a $3.00 admission fee. Forms are available from the Extension Service, TJ's Pageant Wear, Shelby Campbell, Sandra Wilson, Barbara Mills, Martha Chesnutt, Beulah Davis, and Glyndel Wood. School Pictures will be Wednesday, August 18th. There will be a Football Booster Meeting on Tuesday, August 17, at 6:30 in the high school Library. There will be a Junior Class Meeting on Monday, August 16, at 6:30, at the door and window shop of Riley’s Building Supply. Meet the Mustangs will be Friday, August 13, at 6:30. Concessions will be available. Ad pictures for football program and package pictures for football, band, and cheerleading will be Wednesday, August 11th. Band pictures will be during 2nd period. Junior High Football during 6th period and the other pictures during 7th period and after school.
