ANNOUNCEMENTS
January 2012:You may check grades at www.engrade.com. Check with your child or your child's teacher for access codes. REMINDER: Students must sign up by Wednesday of each week to receive a Certificate of Attendance to obtain a permit. Certificates will be given on Thursdays. (The law has changed regarding licenses and renewals--no Certificate is required for licenses--only permits.) The school board policy for absentees as they apply to exemptions has been changed. Absences used to determine exemption must be excused. If a student has any unexcused absences in any class, he/she cannot be exempt from that class. Also, he/she has only two days after the absence to change an unexcused absence to an excused one. Parental notes can cover only a total of five (5) days of absences each semester. Dr. Walker Dempsey Hospital Foundation will be awarding four scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each. The deadline for applying is April 15. Scholarships are awarded based on GPA and need, whether financial or hardship. Pick up an application from Ms. Meloney Lindsey. Any Junior girl interested in attending Girls' State June 2-8 at the University of Southern Mississippi needs to see Ms. Meloney Lindsey to sign up. Cost will be $250. The registration deadline is February 15. The Kindergarten classes will have a soup and salad lunch on Friday, February 10th. We will have a sign up sheet in the office. Please sign your name and check the type of soup you would like to eat on this day. The cost this fabulous meal will be only $5.00. The sign up sheet will be in the office on Tuesday, January 17th. You will have until February 3rd to order and pay for your meal. Please remember Caroline Vanasselburg. There will be a benefit for Caroline on Saturday, February 4th, at the Peppertown Auction Building from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon. They are asking for a $20..00 donation for a T-Shirt, Lunch, Door Prize and Zumba. For more information please contact Deana Patterson at (662) 231-6656. The first annual Snow Angel Pageant will be February 3, 2012, at the IAC Middle School Gymnasium from 3:00-6:00 p.m. This is a charity event to benefit April's Angels.
Senior Class is selling t-shirts. All proceeds will go toward their Memorial Fund. Place your order by January 31.
From 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 30, Chick-Fil-A (Thompson Square location) will host Spirit Night to benefit the MHS Science Team. Proceeds will help fund the team’s trip to the Mississippi Science and Mathematics Tournament held Feb. 2nd and 3rd at Mississippi College. We appreciate your support of this event!
January 16: No School--Martin Luther King Holiday January 12: The ASVAB test for juniors will be given. Please sign up with Ms. Meloney Lindsey by Tuesday, January 10. Twenty tests have been reserved, and will be assigned on a first come/first serve basis.
