February 2010 You may check grades at www.engrade.com. Check with your child or your child's teacher for access codes. REMINDER: Students must sign up by Wednesday of each week to receive a Certificate of Attendance to obtain a permit. Certificates will be given on Thursdays. (The law has changed regarding licenses and renewals--no Certificate is required for licenses--only permits.) The school board policy for absentees as they apply to exemptions has been changed. Absences used to determine exemption must be excused. If a student has any unexcused absences in any class, he/she cannot be exempt from that class. Also, he/she has only two days after the absence to change an unexcused absence to an excused one. Parental notes can cover only five (5) days of absences each semester. Dr. Walker Dempsey Hospital Foundation will be awarding four scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each. The deadline for applying is April 15. Scholarships are awarded based on GPA and need, whether financial or hardship. Pick up an application from Ms. Meloney Lindsey. February 20: Professional Development/No School for Students There will be a Blood Drive at MHS Wednesday, February 15, from 9:00 AM-2:00 PM. See Beth Lindsey to volunteer. Any Junior girl interested in attending Girls' State June 2-8 at the University of Southern Mississippi needs to see Ms. Meloney Lindsey to sign up. Cost will be $250. The registration deadline is February 15. February 15 – Education Services Foundation: Make the College Connection Workshop for Juniors – 9:00-10:00 in library February 10: PROGRESS REPORTS Books Are Fun will be in the library through Monday, February 6. The first annual Snow Angel Pageant will be February 3, 2012, at the IAC Middle School Gymnasium from 3:00-6:00 p.m. This is a charity event to benefit April's Angels.
