March 2010 REMINDER: Students must sign up by Wednesday of each week to receive a Certificate of Attendance to obtain a driver's license. Certificates will be given on Thursdays.
The school board policy for absentees as they apply to exemptions has been changed. Absences used to determine exemption must be excused. If a student has any unexcused absentees in a class, he/she cannot be exempt from that class. Also, he/she has only two days after the absence to change an unexcused absence to an excused one.
The Mantachie Attendance Center family was very saddened by the passing of Mrs. Minnie Lee Walton. Visitation was from 5:00-9:00 Tuesday night, March 9, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie. Her funeral was at 2:00 Wednesday, March 10, at the Funeral Home Chapel. Please keep her family in your prayers.

Mantachie Idol will be April 5 @ 6:30 in the MHS gym. See Mrs. Franks or the office to pick up entry forms. Admission is $3.00. Entry fee is $5 for one person, $10 for a group of 2-4, and $20 for a group of more than four.
Seniors are selling Sweatshirts and Hoodies to raise money for GADD. Please see seniors or senior sponsors to order.
Mrs. Clouse has a few peace sign t-shirts from the 2009 football season for sale. You get 3 for $10.
Teachers, please return all videos you no longer need to the library.
The ASVAB will be given March 31. Any junior or senior interested in taking it needs to see Mr. Credille.
"Books are Fun" will be in the library through March 29.
GADD fundraiser: Pancake Breakfast March 27, 7am until 10:00am. Mantachie Town Hall. See a Senior for tickets.
The 2010 Mr. & Miss Relay for Life Pageant and Mrs. Relay for Life Pageant will be Saturday, March 27, at 2:00 at the ICC Fine Arts Building. Applications are in the MHS office. Entry fee is $20 at the door. Registration is from 11:00 a.m., to 1:30 p.m. Early Bird Special is $15 and must be received by March 26! Most Photogenic fee is $5. Photos may be black & white or color & up to 8 x 10 size. For more information, call 662-862-3195. Mail entry forms to Bancorp South, c/o Sherry Gray, P.O. Box 309, Fulton, MS 38843. Winners will be recognized the night of Relay for Life on Friday, April 23.
There will be a spaghetti supper sponsored by the Track & Cross Country teams March 26 starting at 6:00 p.m., at the Mantachie Methodist Church.
Yearbook order forms will be available March 22-26 for anyone who has not already ordered a yearbook.
The deadline for Prom seating chart requests is Friday, March 26. The chart is in Mrs. Cooper's room.
The March 8 Choir Booster Meeting has been rescheduled until March 25 @ 6:30 in the choir room. If that meeting doesn't make, the possibility of a establishing a choir scholarship will be put on hold until the next school term.
The English II writing Test will be Wednesday morning, March 24, 2010.
SADD Club members need to bring two old t-shirts to Mrs. Cooper's room by Wednesday, March 24.
Graduation invitations & senior supplies will be delivered on Wednesday, March 24th @ 8:00. Please bring your balance due on this day. Balances must be paid off to receive your Cap & Gown.
March 15 is the deadline for pictures for the Senior DVD. Please give your pictures to Will Knight NO LATER than March 15!!!!
MHS Baseball Team will be selling t-shirts, crewneck sweatshirts, and hooded sweatshirts until Friday, March 12. If you would like to purchase one, pick up an order form in the office or see Coach Collier or Coach Bishop.
There will be a BBQ supper March 11 from 3:30-7:30. It will be in the MHS Cafeteria. It is sponsored by Mu Alpha Theta. Tickets are available from Math Club members for $8 each.
There will be a choir booster meeting on March 8 at 6:30 in the choir room for the purpose of discussing the possibility of providing a choir scholarship. They would like as many parents to attend as possible to discuss whether or not this is something they would like to provide, and if so, under what criteria.
